Don't know if it will help or not, but it won't hut you to try:
uncheck the box marked "Enable Third Party Browser Extensions" on the
advanced tab in IE Tools | Options
Did this start all of the sudden, possibly after a service pack
install? You can try uninstalling your most recent service packs (if
you can). I had a problem with IE crashing every time it was opened .
. . and I had a similar result to yours with the error code. I didn't
keep the error code laying around (though I helpfully and hopefully
annoyingly sent it to Microsoft about 600 times before I finally found
the fix).
