(I tried to write to you direct, but there is no email id in
your post. Hope other members would not beat me for this off
topic thingy.)
Yeah, it is working now. And I have shared it in some more
mailing lists.
Then, I got a scolding.
The problem is that once this "-- " comes up, everything
after that goes dim. It is ok in single mail, but in digest
versions, all mails below my mail go dim. And people are
cursing me.
(btw, when some quoted mail comes after "-- ", the dimming
changes to normal again. But that dos not work If i give ">"
in a reply mail.)
So, is there a way to switch off the dimming to make my
lists' moderators' lives easy. As you know digest is created
by software, thus...

Someone told me that outlook is designed to strip trailing
whitespaces from any line, thus "-- " becomes "--" and
mailreaders do not recognize it for what it is. Another
isntance of MS thinking too much.
gmail also does not support this method.
netscape goes a step further. When you hit reply on a mail
with "-- ", netscape does not quote the text which is "-- "
onward. so cool.
