The Clear button is supposed to clear the window AND display the SAME
initial content:
Java Plug-in 1.5.0
Using JRE version 1.5.0 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator
----------------------------------------------------
c: clear console window
f: finalize objects on finalization queue
g: garbage collect
h: display this help message
l: dump classloader list
m: print memory usage
o: trigger logging
p: reload proxy configuration
q: hide console
r: reload policy configuration
s: dump system and deployment properties
t: dump thread list
v: dump thread stack
x: clear classloader cache
0-5: set trace level to <n>
----------------------------------------------------
So, it MAY look like the clear button does not work if there have not
yet been other messages (because the content is the same).
However, if, after a click with the mouse inside the console window, you
cannot type any of the commands in the window, there is something
(seriously) wrong. Note, that only the keys listed can be typed
(lowercase), others will not work (at least, not in my console). So, for
instance typing (without quotes) "m" "s" "t" "v" "0" or "5" should work
and result in a message being printed in the console. Note, that the key
that you typed will not be printed, but some other message. E.g. if you
type "5", you will see "Trace level set to 5: all ... completed.".
As said if you cannot type them (i.e. ), there something wrong. I'm out
of ideas, sorry...
