Installed JDK on Windows XP, no javac?

Hardly a Java question, but I'll try my luck.
I've just installed JDK (JDK-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe) on a Windows
XP machine; or thought that I did. 'java'(.exe) is there in the
relevant \bin directory. But no 'javac'? Am I going mad?
TIA,
Jon C.
