Stdin.readln() reading input from console

I am new to programming and my first language i am using is Java. Anyways I
have a source code here and it compiles fine but the program doesn't do what
it is suppose to do. I know that the source code needs to be in the same
directory as the program files. However, I don't know where the program
files are. I have installed Jbuilder 6 personal edition (which i believe
installs java virtual machine), Java 2 SDK 1.3 (which i believe is the
compiler), and textPad (which is the editor- to write the java code).
Correct me if I am wrong but I have tried placing the source code in all
locations except for the textPad directory. If anyone could help that would
be great
.
