That is the standard behaviour. JAWS is a remarkably sane system.

My biggest beef with is the difficulty in nailing down a chunk of
sensibly-named, persistent, user-accessible disk space, as normal
apps do when they install, e.g. in Program Files and c:\documents and
settings\administrator.roedy\application data\xxx
One of the nicest features is the way they let you put your JNI dlls
and so's in a jar rather than having to manually install them
somewhere on the path.
