Help with Java

My wife's computer seems to be freezing up since she installed SunJava, JRE
V1.5. I'm very unfamiliar with all of this so if my terminology is not
correct please forgive me and I'll try to explain it better.
Are there any issues with this install? She installed it because the site
she hangs out on told her it was necessary to have this installed.
Can anyone help?
