Re: Help with Java

Thanks for the quick replies. I must tell you that I'm slightly above the
"point and click" level of computer knowledge. My wife is somewhere below.
Please accept my apologies for not understanding some things you say or
suggest.

It appears (according to my wife) that it hangs up permanently (it never
used to).

I did think about drivers and the drivers for the video card and monitor are
all up to date.

Someone suggested looking at the Java console. I can't seem to find that.
I have opened the Java Control Panel and have explored the options within
it. The only thing I changed was, I clicked the box for "show console",
although I can't seem to find the console. As soon as I can I'll try to
post the settings as was suggested.

It was also suggested I check "device drivers". Which ones other than video
card and monitor should I check?

There was mention about checking the "operating system kernel". No clue on
this one (remember, point and click?)

Just a little background on the computer and problem.
The video driver is S3 ProsavageDDR.
My wife hangs out on a site that chats and plays games. She's done this
for the last year or two. Recently things weren't operating well (games got
slow). The people at the site suggested she install Java. We did. Now in
the past two weeks she's been locking up, she's told me that images remain
on her screen (although I haven't seen them, but then again I don't play her
games). I have spent sometime on her computer just web browsing, email, and
such but haven't experienced the things she's seeing.
I hope this helps and I thank you for your time and patience. We "point
and clickers" would be lost without people like yourselves.
Thanks again,
Don...........
