I am even more puzzled now.

1. does a human type this password, or a program on its own supposed
to negotiate authorisation?

2. What is the client, a browser, an Applet an application?

3. what are you authenticating? access to some HTTP files, access to
a servlet? something else/

In what way is what you are doing out of the ordinary?
