uninstaller missing from add/remove programs for JRE 1.5.0 (winXP)

I can't find this one in the FAQ but it sounds like a pretty common problem.
I want to uninstall the JRE (1.5.0), but it's not in the add/remove
programs panel (win XP). The bin/ directory of the JRE install dir
doesn't contain any likely looking uninstall executables either. What's
the procedure to uninstall it manually? Presumably there are registry
entries to be cleared and so forth. Or I suppose I could reinstall
exactly that version, and then use the uninstaller, which should be
present again...
