Is Java Sound API compatible with JVM 1.1???

Hi,
Im wrting an audio player applet using Java Sound API. I want it to be
able to run in JVM 1.1 which comes along with IE 6.0. Will an applet
which uses Java Sound API(javax.sound.sampled.* package) run in JVM
1.1. Is there a documentation available for this in sun web site?
