JRE download problem with proxy settings

I hope it is not inappropriate for me to post this here.
have XP SP1 and Java Runtime v 1.5.0_06. In IE I have been having
problems with one web site I can access (the others do not display the
following problems) - Bluemountain.com - an E-card site which displays
and
plays, e.g. birthday cards - where the graphics don't work properly
and
there is no sound. The page I get has lots of small white boxes with a
red
X in them, where I guess the Java applets should be. I should be
getting an
animated card with accompanying sound. I have the latest Flash
animation
installed. In regard to the red x problem, I understand this is a JRE
problem. I therefore checked to see if I could update my JRE version
and I
can to _07. My problem there, and why I am posting, is that wherever I
click on to download this version, I get a message saying there is a
problem
with my proxy settings. I then went to a page where I am told to check
these settings in the Java Control Panel in Control Panel, but when I
go
there, there is a Java Control Panel, but no proxies tag. In fact, my
control panel bears little resemblance to the one pictured in the web
site
as to how to check the proxies settings. The one there has several
more
tags. Alternatively, I am told I can enter the specified settings
manually in IE/Tools/Options/Connections/LAN settings, but to me the
instructions thereafter as to how to do so are incomprehensible.
searches of no help, thus far. All advice gratefully received.
