to deploy a java applet on a client browser without having the client
to install stuff?
I attempted auxiliary installation with an early Applet version of
SetClock and went nearly mad. I then gave up and some years later
redid it with JAWS and it worked without a hitch.
Problems doing it with an a signed Applet include figuring out where
to put it, getting it on the path/classpath, arranging to get rid of
it when the Applet is no longer wanted.
I would strongly recommend doing this with JAWS.

If you have a technical audience, you can simply tell them to download
JMF and install it in the ext directory.
It is about time Sun handled that automatically, install aux jars on
first use.
