Sometimes I'm a little confuse in a situations like this:
I'm looking for a photo gallery for my personall website and I found
zenphoto which is nice gallery but it required PHP, mySql and web server. I
also found servlet for photo album
(http://www.servletsuite.com/servlets/pubpic.htm).
Most often, vwhen seaching for a nice, Java based
image gallery and slidehow, I have settled for an
'out of the box' PHP* based gallery that offered a
JS** based slidewhow. Mostly because it was offered
as a 'Plug-In' for the site via the 'Control Panel'.
* Most servers support PHP.
** Most UAs (where the user is interested in 'slideshows')
support JS. And the 'js' based slideshow generally*** offers
automatic resize of images, as well as fading between
slides.
*** Old scripts offered 'fade between images' for IE and Mozilla,
but 'flip' between images for browsers that do not support JS fade.
But I bet even Opera supports 'fade between images' nowadays.
