** Most UAs (where the user is interested in 'slideshows')
support JS. And the 'js' based slideshow generally*** offers
automatic resize of images, as well as fading between
slides.

*** Old scripts offered 'fade between images' for IE and Mozilla,
but 'flip' between images for browsers that do not support JS fade.
But I bet even Opera supports 'fade between images' nowadays.
