If that is correct Jenny, Alvin may
be out of luck to do it in pure Java.

Apparently 'file properties' is a very
platform specific thing. Java will not
be supporting that functionality until
Java 1.6 is released, which may be a
long time given 1.5 goes 'alpha' at
the end of the month.

Alternatively, it might be possible to
call a small C program that gets the
word file properties.
