Yes. Take the JRE with you. Add ~\bin to PATH. That is all.
One install puts \bin into %systemroot%. Oooh, returning to the hell of
incompatible versions is a BAD idea. Also, I do not know the steps to
configure Java for the browser but would appreciate if you do this in
your install too. :-)
