Seeing this disclaimer on a posting to a public newsgroup makes me believe that the poster's organization includes this disclaimer on all outgoing email, newsgroup or otherwise. In the U.S., indiscriminately marking all correspondence or documentation as "confidential", especially when the documents are publicly disseminated, invalidates the assertion of confidentiality from all those documents, and undermines the organization's attempt to protect their information.
