I know this is going to sound like I question your competence at
something, but in fact I don't: You might consider whether your
ability to correctly detect insults is infallible. You have clearly
taken things as insults in the past that the person saying did not
intend as insults, according to themselves, and that a significant
number of people responding didn't see as an insult either, according
to their responses.
In case you're interested (and there's really no reason why you shoiuld be)
, these are the comments Twisted snipped and referred to as insults:
(Twisted with one ">", the "insult" with none.)

Oh, for Christ's sake, is there always a nitpicker waiting in the
wings??!
In general, if you say something dead wrong, you can count on being
corrected.
COBOL can handle 4 digit years.
Obviously*. It just didn't do so by default. :P
It didn't do anything by default. Programmers had to choose how to
represent dates as character fields; some chose two-digit years.

"You were mistaken" isn't an insult.

[insults me while denying having insulted me]
Have you nothing constructive to do?

I don't see any insults. I see over-sensitivity to being corrected.
