the conclusion that it must be implemented in a brain-dead manner. The
above is not, of course, how the Swedish system works.
This sounds like an attack, and from someone who formerly seemed to be
an ally. Explain.
Also, your saying that it "is not how the system works" seems a bit
peculiar. You were talking about getting a one-time credit card
account with a fixed amount that isn't replenishable, and therefore
the card number if compromised is not a biggie.
Getting a new account requires appearing before a teller in person to
sign stuff. Everyone knows this.
Ergo, getting a new account for every online purchase means waiting in
line at the bank for every online purchase. So much for the promised
convenience of online shopping; even offline shopping is more
convenient in the presence of technology like the ATM and debit-card-
swipe machines at point of sale.
This is irrefutable logic. You can claim that the system is
"different" until you're blue in the face, but this won't alter the
facts and the conclusions that follow inevitably from them by
deductive reasoning.
The facts in this case are that you can get a temporary account (an "e-card") without going to the bank. You just fill in a web form. Of course, you must be authenticated, but that is necessary for every transaction in your "e-bank". The e-card is of course backed up by the real account.
My bank provides that service. I haven't used it yet, but there are clear instructions on their web pages.
