Never mind that every time you take a couple of days off of posting,
the number of posts that involve you at all drops to zero mere hours
after you stop posting. There's an initial run of replies to your
posts, then nothing whatsoever. It's almost like *nobody cares* about
you enough to insult you behind your back, or something. Imagine
that.

In fact, if you let yourself have a choice in the matter, you could
very likely end every argument you're involved in by simply allowing
someone else to get the last word. Your decision to demand the very
last word in the interest of "balance" is the only thing keeping you
under "attack". I suggest an experiment, in good faith (and when have
I been less than honest about my intent?): take a week off of posting
at some point, and merely watch. See if anyone says a single thing
about you more than a day after you stop.

If you still feel you *must* reply to the posts that came up in the
few hours after your last post, observe what happens as soon as you do
that doesn't happen until you do.

Revel in the resulting sense of control, if you like.
