What does Thunderbird's newsgroup filtering lack that makes you so harsh?

The ability to filter on the number of cross posed newsgroups for a start.

Should have been cross "posted".
Another missing capability is the lack of support for regular expression or wild cards in the match condition. It would be easy to create a regular expression that matched the MI5 variations.

While OT (heck, this whole thread is!), I would like to mention that I have recently started work on developing Thunderbird in my spare time. Both of these features are on my radar of things to work on: they are bugs 16903 and 19442 on the bugzilla (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org). However, because of what you have said, they are quickly jumping up the ladder of importance. With any luck, they will be included in TB 3 when it comes out sometime in 2008...
