is essential and it fails, then the system goes down. That's called
"downtime". If it's getting wonky so it's replaced, the system goes
down during the replacement. Redundancy and failover let you keep the
downtimes quite brief, if properly applied, though.

Hardware that magically continues to work after it fails, search tools
