"at least 3.0 GHz of CPU clock speed"?
Virtually no PCs are made at that speed.
Some Pentium IV's did run at that speed, but that's why I said "at least,"
and that's not Microsoft's official word, that's my opinion based on my
experiences. At 2.0 MHz you're going to be sluggish, even with enough RAM.
At 2.4 - 2.5 MHz you should be better off.
If you get a dual core CPU... the slowest one I've seen is 1.8GHz per core.
That should work fine for you. It's quite a bit more horsepower than you'd
get from a ~3.0GHz processor (is that better?)
If Vista depends on that, no wonder
people are having trouble. The machine I bought this year that has Vista
pre-installed by the manufacturer runs at 2.4 GHz. No machine that came with
Vista in that store ran at 3.0 GHz or above clock speed.
Do you have a single-core or dual-core CPU? My estimate is that you
need about 3.0GHz *total* to effectively run Vista, not 3.0GHz *per
core.*
