Do you have a CVS server or just the client? You will need both (you can run both on the same machine).
if anyone has a source control, feel free to recommend ....
CVS is OK, but I would second IchBin's recommendation to use Subversion. It is similar to CVS but addresses most of CVS's problems and is rapidly becoming the de facto standard.
Beyond that, any version control system that is not called "Microsoft Visual SourceSafe" should do a decent job.
