Smudgy fonts in Netbeans?

Is it just me, or are the fonts in Netbeans' editor really muddy and smudgy? Much less clear than Eclipse or even JBuilder. I just can't look at them. I've tried adjusting to different fonts from the defaults, but can't make it readable. Is it Swing that is at fault here?

Too bad, because in some respects, chiefly simplicity and familiarity of operation, I prefer Netbeans to Eclipse. It's just that it looks like ***! ;)
