Macintosh Java Applet Please Help

I want to serve a web page using a Java applet called jmol that models
molecules in three dimensions.

You can see it at http://jmol.sourceforge.net/ it¹s really cool

I downloaded the package and read through the docs.
It took me a long time to get it to work, but when I dropped the
jmolApplet.jar file into my Library/Java/Extensions folder, it began
to work on the web pages that I was developing and I was happy with that.

But, woe unto me, I found that when I looked at my site (shared via
personal web sharing) from a remote computer, it didn¹t work.
So I am asking if anyone can help me to figure out how to get this to
work when served from my machine.

Thank you in advance for suggestions

John
