tomcat as a service on xp?

OK, its 2.45am. I give up.
Tomcat 5.5 doesn't want to run as a service on my XP workstation.
Apache is ticking along nicely as a service.
If I run bootstrap.jar directly tomcat runs OK, until the user who
invoked it logs off. Not a good thing for a server.
tomcat5w.exe runs for a bit and gives up.
The exciting parts from the logfile are:
[2005-08-03 01:29:05] [457 javajni.c] [error] FindClass
org/apache/catalina/startup/Bootstrap failed
[2005-08-03 01:29:05] [935 prunsrv.c] [error] Failed loading main
org/apache/catalina/startup/Bootstrap class C:\tomcat\bin\
[2005-08-03 01:29:05] [1179 prunsrv.c] [error] ServiceStart returned 3
Anyone got any clues?
