Re: Java Default Settings Directory?

Found a fix. Has to do with Desktop Folder.

Hello,
I've installed Java with default installation on the C: drive. I have an application called Areca Backup (http://areca.sourceforge.net/) which for some unknown reason stores its settings in another drive under "R:\Program Data\". The file in question is ".areca". I have other Java applications and they all install their settings under "R:\Program Data".

Why does this occur?

I can see nothing in the "Java Control Panel" that defines where applications settings are stored.

Please any advice is appreciated.

Other applications I have:
1) Netbean 6.5 stores it creates a directory "R:\Program Data\.netbeans" with file ".superId".
"Userdir: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\.netbeans\6.5".
The weird thing is that I have NetBean running on a "Virtual machine" with access to the R Drive (network mapping).
The "Desktop" directory is in its default location.

2) Zekr (zekr.org) which stores its settings under "R:\Program Data".

3) While a a program called Alkitab (http://www.kiyut.com/) stores it setting under default "Application Data" directory.

Other information that might be of use:
My Desktop special folder path is "R:\Program Data\Desktop"
My System is Windows XP Pro SP3 with all the latest updates and Latest Java release.
