I am setting up a database using phpmyadmin and tried to enter a
'varchar' 400 char long but got an error saying max was 255 and to use
'blob' instead.

I have searched the forums to find out about 'blob' and it seems that
it is mainly used to store images in binary.

Can anyone tell me what the best mysql format is for a text field 400
char long is?

Will I have any trouble storing 400 char text as binary in a 'blob'
format?

Thanks
