PHP web page - display/refresh...

Hi,

I am writing to ask about a PHP web project I am trying.

I have a MySQL DB which has links to documents/articles.
I am trying to figure out the best way to display these.

I am using a drop-down select html menu which holds links to these
docs.
Rather than the user opening or downloading these docs I want to
display these on the same page.

I have seen this before on php pages but i'm not entirely sure on how
to do it.

The doc is selected from the menu (no submit button), the page
refreshed and the doc is displayed to the user on the same page rather
than being downloaded.

Does anybody know how I could acheive this?
