Folks,

I’ve developed a portal of sorts for a community I’m running and would like
to integrate a forum.

The portal is fairly complex allowing users to log in with varying
permissions etc, however at the moment I have just have a link to a phpbb
forum which users also have to register on.

I’m looking for a forum solution that is easy to integrate with my portal.
Ideally I’m looking to manage the forum though one interface (via the
portal). I’d like to be able to easily code an interface that allows, for
example, the front page to display the most recent posts. Synchronised
registration is a must.

I’ve looked into modifying phpbb, however there must be more basic solutions
out there…maybe some API’s I could use? Even better would be some API’s that
sit over the top of phpbb, so I get the functionality of phpbb but with an
easy to use interface for my coding needs?

Anyone know of such a solution?
