Yes and no. The best thing that can happen to you is an exclusive link
on a popular site. Such as your site being mentioned in a newspost.
However Google's link farm filter tends to decrease your rating at
Google and can even get you blocked if more than one such "link farm"
links to you.
The problem is that "Links" pages on websites tend to be misinterpreted
if they contain too many links and too few real text.
Actual link archives with long descriptions for each website suffer less
from this problem but websites with such will be more picky as to whom
they'll link to.
Also, being a news item on a popular website tends to help a lot more
than being in some link lists on various websites (especially if they're
mostly very small homepages and sorts).
