CMS Image Enriched Articles

I am creating a CMS and would like to know if anybody is doing or knows of a
way of..

inputting image enriched articles.

The idea I had would be to have a form field where the article was entered
and then an "Insert Picture" button, which when clicked would insert a
picture (img. tag) exactly where the cursor was in the text and then ask you
to upload the image, this being repeated infinitely depending on how many
pics need to be uploaded with the article.

Just wondering if such a script has already been done, or anybody
experienced anything like this.

The idea was to allow novice computer users/administrators to control
content without knowing how to upload pictures and without them having to
know basic html code.

I have not started on this yet, but one problem I can foresee is ..
Once the cursor is in the correct position within the text where the picture
is to be inserted, how to capture where in the text the cursor is.
