I think you are putting the cart in front of the horse... If you
want to focus on business, you need to understand your customers'
needs before you begin to design your software. This way, you can
give your clients something that only you can give them.

You are probably wrong. Large-scale high-availability MySQL
installations are known to exist.

It's a specialist world out there... Executive recruitment is
different from professional recruitment; recruitment in small
business is different from recruitment in large companies.
Depending on the kind of client, requirements and wish lists
will differ. Simple questions: will your clients need to keep
track of communications with prospective employees? will there
be a need to import resumes that currently exist in Word format?
would clients appreciate a rich client? There is a reason that
Google search for "recruitment software" returns over eighty
thousand matches...
