Using the Image commands in PHP

Okay I am getting round the principles of the image stuff... i'm pretty
chuffed with what they can do so far... however...
say I am creating a new image 500x500,
and I wanted to include a .gif into that file at a location (top left pixel)
x=50, y=50 - how do i go about doing that?
