I mean MTA??
A "mail server", all you need to do is a way for you script (using telnet) to
connect the receiving MTA, follow the rfc for sending mail and the mail will
be sent with the headers you want and the from address will be as you wanted.
Surley the host should fix this. I mean, you don't get an automated
email from say ebay showing "on behaf of".
eBay don't host homepages for other companies, so they don't have the risk of
someone setting up a bad mail-form on their virtual host. It seems your
current host does do this, if you want it to not add the stuff, then take
contact with your host and ask them to disable this for your account (they may
want to review your mail-form/mail-script). Other than that, you have no
option than make your own (or use one of many already made) simple mail server
that can send mail.
Would PHPMailer work or would I get the same problem??

If you use the class.smtp.php with the SMTP class.
