Might apache cause this problem?

I'm having a strange problem with my comp...
since i installed apache (throught xammp) the process svchost (tag SYSTEM)
has more than doubled his memory usage, as before the apache installation
it was always less than 22MB, now is always more than 45MB
what do youy think about this?
