Hmm. I found how to do that. Is there any way to make
'private' the default option when posting?
To explain what my need is for an online diary is, I'm getting
a little tired of being told one thing and when they don't deliver on
it they ask me 'who promised me that'. Sometimes I'm at home when I
talk to them. Sometimes I'm at the office. But I rarely remember who
I spoke to three to six months or a year ago.
By having an online diary hidden away on my Web site, I can
record specifics about promises made to me and record names. Then
they can't bail out of the promise they made because 'I don't remember
who told me that'. I can pull it up from anywhere and quote the
person and tell who it was that said that.
Well, you can. But that won't be proof of anything. It will still be
only your account of the conversation. Even if you keep logs, it won't
mean that they will hold up - logs can more or less always be doctored.
But of course, if it's only for your own use, you should be fine with
eg. WordPress.
I beg to differ. When you quote someone that they can verify
was on duty on the time and date that you say they spoke to you, that
usually takes the cake.
I've had an issue with one of the Telcos that has been going
on for the last year. I've been keeping names, phone numbers, and
what they said. When they completely fouled up and I read it back to
them, they had to admit they were at fault and have taken steps to
compensate me for the damage done.
When I worked for a fiber NOC, one of our customers said I had
made certain promises. The problem was, I wasn't on duty the day he
claimed he spoke to me. So my superiors didn't buy it for a minute.
But I consider these entries confidential and don't mean for
everyone to be reading them. They are only on my Web site so I can
make entries from whereever I might be.
As I said - look at "private entries"
But, for you needs, I'm guessing even LiveJournal will do - make a free
account there, and chose to make all your postings private.
I skimmed the LiveJournal site. The data appears to be kept
on their site, rather than mine. Maybe I misread. I don't want my
data floating on some site I don't have admin access to.

Hi Fred,
Dictaphone with phone mic! It's as simple as that, I always use one when I
have a problem with companies. I always tell them I'm recording
conversation, never been told no I'd prefer you didn't, also it tends to
stop them from making promises they can't keep. ;-)
