Listen, it's not about who could do what to which system. It's about
accountability. Jerry was politely trying to tell you that he is
accountable to his customers and he's not going to 'play' with his
servers. I wonder how your customers would feel if they knew you
operated like this. Even if you have the most secure servers on the
planet, it's all about perception.
Oh, and one thing I'd like to respond to above before I leave this.
This is one of many misrepresented things that you are perpetuating.
First, who ever said that this would be some offer to do on a server
with client accounts on it? That wasn't necessary, nor was that the
plan. This is something you've just conjured up by assuming. How
wonder how anyone would feel about someone just making a wild
accusations about the circumstances, to actually claim anyone intended
to offer such a challenge on servers clients were on. Not exactly
unprofessional, because you wish to assume that would have been the
situation, but that is the problem with your attitude here the entire
time you're been complaining to me.
What didn't you *get* what I said that I told Jerry that if he didn't
feel comfortable giving access to someone he's fighting with (as usual)
on usenet to his system, that I'd understand. He said that wasn't it,
and that he just wanted money to do it.
Jerry did challenge me, and while I did challenge him as well (I never
said I didn't), it was in direct response to his claims that I didn't
know what I was doing and his preexisting attacks on me both as a
professional and questioning my skills.
He didn't refuse to allow me to prove it to him based on the client
issue, he refused based on the fact I wasn't going to pay him $200 to
set up an account on his server so I could prove something to him.
He then said it would take too long to set up an account, he needed to
be paid for his time, and I even called it before I spoke with him, and
knew he would claim his services are too specialized and say "I accept
your challenge, but I will only do it if you pay me $200". That's his
method of getting out of having to live up to what he agreed on and
even challenged me to prove himself. You missed that, along with a lot
of other stuff. About time you go back and re-read the thread, in
order, don't you think?
It's hardly unprofessional to tell someone I'll prove something to them,
especially when the person you tell that to is busy spending all day
posting attacks about you, like Jerry was to me. You're going to have
to live with that fact and accept it. Just adding some made up
variable about how Jerry was protecting his clients is foolish and
irrelevant. Jerry never once said that was an aspect until the 4th or
5th excuse. I told him myself that if he said that was a reason in the
first place, if he didn't have a server to safely allow this offer to
happen on, that I'd totally understand. I never said otherwise, in
fact. The only thing I said, was that was a new excuse. He sure
didn't consider it as he was challenging me, now did he? Oh, right,
you're all wrapped up on the fact that I made the challenge first, as
if that has any relevance. The challenge was to prove what I said was
true and what he was saying about me (his malicious attacks on me) were
false. Apparently you want to add more variables to that to do
whatever you can to continue to make ME look bad.
I've already explained why I posted about what happened on the phone in
the thread, and there was nothing wrong with doing that. It wasn't a
private conversation, it was related directly to this thread and
exactly what was said here. As I said, it's suspicious how eager you
are to speak poorly of me and ignore all of the variables about why and
how this played out, and to ignore what Jerry did or said. You go on
to say you've never seen Jerry harass someone and act like he's a
perfect angel who is always a professional. This leads me to believe
that either you're Jerry posting as another username, you're related to
him, a business partner or have some existing relationship, else is
truly is love at first site and you've been blinded by it... because
this is truly ridiculous! And, boy, you sure seem to know a LOT about
Jerry and how he operates (uh huh). Perhaps you're just a troll that's
upset that you're not getting the attention you so desperately crave?
I think that's a safe bet. Flippin' weirdo.
