go-pear WebInstaller, shared host dir struct

As I am using a shared host, and found out they have some Pear Pkgs but
not Smarty, I went to install Pear locally in my area. I was under the
assumption that I should install this Pear dir structure, outside of
"htdocs" and so I did.

Problems now, of course,
- No http access to WebInstaller.php
- A bunch of directories and no easy way to delete them (no shell
access, only WS_FTP)
- Wish there was a way to move these directories, as if on a local
filesystem.

Can I get a little help ? TIA

.
