Try to search on mysql.com site for the field types you are interested
in.
Use something like
http://www.google.com/search?q=datetime+site:mysql.com

More generally, INT stores integer numbers, FLOAT stores floating-point
numbers, VARCHAR, CHAR and TEXT stores character data.
