I know this is not a php question. If that bothers you,

I'm using a very abbreviated set of code to show a
calendar. The idea is to simply hide the calendar when it
loses focus. I'm displaying the calendar in a span tag.
When that span loses focus, I recurse through its children.
If focus was lost to a child, then I want to keep the
calendar visible. I'm using the element.all to determine
children of a given node. The problem is that changing the
months either with the navigation arrows or via the
drop-down, or by changing the year via its drop-down, the
menu disappears...apparently the navigation links and the
select's options are not seen as a descendant of the
primary span tag displaying the calendar.

(Sorry for the text-wrapping...and tia for any thoughts)

Ask in an appropriate newsgroup and you'll get a good
answer.

As you said - this isn't a PHP problem, so this is not the
appropriate newsgroup.
I know, but getting a reponse - much less a timely one - is a
bit troublesome. As it is, I've figured it out. The problem
wasn't recusion for child nodes, it was 'remnant' code i'd
left in while prototyping...where I was setting the span's
innerHTML to ''. It works fine now.

Thanks anyway.
It's a lot less troublesome to get a response when you ask in
the correct newsgroup
Troublesome is not getting a response at all...*from* the
correct newsgroup. :)
So you think you can ask in just any old newsgroup and get an
answer?
Uhm, no. I wouldn't ask this question in alt.strawmen. But, since
web developers of all sorts will inevitably use javascript and
since I'm using php, I thought it better to ask in this php ng
rather than, say, alt.lang.asp (but would be just as likely get a
correct response there as well).

No, it would be better to NOT ask javascript questions in a php
newsgroup AT ALL.
Better for whom, Jerry? I see loads of javascript questions
answered here - flash questions, IDE questions, lots of non-php
questions. Seems that posting web development questions pan out for
many. I'm not here to please you, and will ask whatever I want. You
may freely skip over questions that you feel are less than germain.

Actually, no you don't. We do get a few - but most are pointed to
the correct newsgroup. This is NOT a newsgroup for you to ask any
question you feel like.
Actually, yes, I do...or I wouldn't have said so. You don't get the
luxury of telling me what I do and don't see...narcasistic as you may
be. And, though my post may have been caveated as off-topic, it is
far from being out of the ballpark. Still, even if it were, I can ask
any question I'd like. You are free to change the channel.

Then you're looking in a completely different newsgroup, stoopid ***.

And you can continue to prove you're an *** - for the entire world
to see. But then idiots like you do that.

That's why there are different newsgroup for different
purposes - because here we want to talk about PHP and not put up
with all of that javascript.
Let me clue you in, Jerry...

"I know this is not a php question. If that bothers you, don't
respond."

Let me clue you in, Barry. If you want to ask off-topic questions
in this newsgroup, expect to be called on it. I just happened to
get here first.
That's your perogative. Unlike you, however, when I ask an
off-topic here again I will certainly have the sense to filter all
responses from 'Jerry Stuckle'. You seem to lack the necessary
ability to avoid entanglement. This is not an argument for you to
win Jerry. You will not change my behavior. Any other
communications from you to that end are fruitless. Why do you
persist?

Sure. And I'll keep telling you what an *** you are. And
others will see you're an ***, also.
Wow. So your logic is that others will see me in whatever way *you*
tell them? Now THAT is ego - unadulterated.

No, they will see you by your actions, stoopid ***.

Stoopid ***.
Well, first let me say that your English needs work. Second, and
finally, at any time wherein you retained 'cool', you've certainly
lost yours now. That's the point where your credibility goes way
down...and you begin setting ever higher marks on your '***'
scale. LOL. Again, my posting off-topic is just barely even
registering now. Thank you for diverting the readers' attention from
my misgiving and for making it seem so minute by comparison now.

My English needs no work. I'm calling a stoopid *** exactly what he
is.

And you have shown no "misgivings" for posting off-topic in this
newsgroup. Rather, you have indicated this is your "right".

We don't want to have to wade through all kinds of off-topic
questions here just because you think you're above the charter for
this newsgroup.
"We" again, being 'Jerry Stuckle'. Charter? LOL. Pray-tell, whom
shall it be that enforces said rules? Will I get banned? Either way
Jerry, yes, I'm special. ROFL.

No, we being the charter which was approved when this newsgroup was
formed.
and 'Jerry Stuckle' of course...lest you ment 'they' instead.

Nope. I had nothing to do with the formation of this newsgroup,
stoopid ***.

And yes, you are special. We have a few other idiots here - but
you're the biggest *** in the newsgroup.
Cool! So if I post off-topic, while warning from the start that it is
OT, and respond to 'Jerry Stuckle' politely yet poigniently, I'm the
biggest *** in the group? Jerry, if that's the case, then at
least you have recognized that you're so superlatively 'assholed'
that you are in need of a new, more incidious adjective...you've
overflown the '***' chart.

Yes, you're showing exactly what a stoopid *** you are. Idiot.

In the first two sentences of my OP, you should have put your
blinders on and gone on to a post you *prefer* to
answer...unless, you really prefer to waste time in such a manner
as you've done in replying to this thread. :)

I don't consider telling an idiot he is one to be a waste of my
time. Maybe next time you'll find an appropriate newsgroup.
No, I'll just filter 'Jerry Stuckle' out of my reader so I can
avoid reading the narcisistic rantings of a projecting idiot.

Find. So that. Others will just tell you the same thing, stoopid
***.
I think you mean, 'Do that'...but your mental facility has been in
question all along. No surprises here. And, I'll wait for the
'others' with baited breath. :)

No, your ego is totally in question, stoopid ***.

Oh, and by "we want", I think you're only speaking for yourself
and a narrow margin of others..who still may be a bit reluctant
to have you as their spokesperson.

No, I am speaking for the charter under which newsgroup was
formed - which says it's about PHP. All comp.xxx newsgroups have
such a charter, and that's what justifies their existence.
'justifies their existence'? That's funny. I suppose saying
alt.port.kiddie would justify its existence as well. You have a
fuzzy way of trying say you're right. It's almost
counter-productive.

That is correct.
What is correct? alt.porn.kiddie, simply existing for the
perpetuating fact, is justification enough for it to exist? Did you
miss the insult as literal? Oh, my bad, yes...yes, you did - as you
blather on factually below:

I said comp.* newsgroups, stoopid ***. Now we know you can't read,
also.

Not everyone can create a comp.xxx newsgroup. Every one must be
proposed before the usenet "board", with a charter. Often times
there are recommendations on modifications of that charter before it
is voted upon. The proposal then goes out to be voted upon by usenet
users. If there are sufficient "yes" votes, the newsgroup is
created.

Learn how usenet works, stoopid ***.
Oh how horrific of me not to have considered all that went into the
mix. I should have reverently bowed down before asking *any*
question. But to think, all that work...and I am still free to use
this newsgroup AS I WANT.

Again, thank's for your illumination on creatively weilding the
English language. :)

And others are free to call you for what you are when you do post
off-topic - a stoopid ***.

When I want javascript help I got to a javascript newsgroup.
Yep. Me too. But when I don't 'got' a response there, I don't
exclude other alternatives for fear I may get inane flames...as
is evidenciarily proving itself out here, now.

Have a nice day.
That's still no excuse to make an ass of yourself and post
off-topic in other newsgroups.
Well, if posting off-topic in news groups while *identifying* the
post as *off-topic* makes me an ass, perhaps the higher quotient of
the same scale is set by those who feel they must *ignore* said
identification and blather on beyond "Please don't post off-topic
here." Beyond that Jerry, really, what more can you say? If
anything, your continued remarks prod one to start a full-scale
spamming campaign in this news group.

That's no excuse - in fact, it shows even more how much of a stoopid
*** you really are.
Really? In what way? To prove yourself correct, it would behoove you
to counter my argument by demonstrating in some way that you can
actually change my behavior to match your deistic warnings of posting
OT. As it is, I have no plans to and you are merely getting blue in
the face. This is obvious, given the amount of swearing you've
introduced to this thread.

I don't need to change your behavior. You're making a complete fool
of yourself with your arguments anyway. Pretty soon you won't get ANY
help in this newsgroup - on or off topic. But stoopid shits like you
don't understand that.

I'm glad we don't have other ones like you here.
Like I said, I see people posting OT here all the time. By 'other
ones' then, do you mean those who don't care for 'Jerry Stuckle'?
Were that what you meant, there are posts that litter this newsgroup
in agreement with my tastes.

And they are directed to the appropriate newsgroup. And they don't
argue it is their "right" to post off-topic questions in this or any
other newsgroup. In short. they aren't stoopid shits like you.

Oh, and BTW - better check with charter.net before spamming this or
any other newsgroup. Spamming them is a violation of their TOS.
Bad things happen when you violate their TOS. Like losing usenet
access - or even getting cut off from the internet. They don't want
to get the reputation of hosting spammers.
Well, even charter isn't equipped enough to detect spamming when
bouncing off of other, more compromised systems - all while using
encrypted channels. Further, as this group is freely accessible via
google, *nothing* would happen should one feel to take that course
either. And as it stands, there is more than one flavour of spam. I
would be content to post OT all day long just to piss you off.
charter doesn't evaluate OT or congruent content to newsgroups.

No, but they can be shown the spam. And they do take action on spam
reports.

Funny that you'd get defensive and respond with such things rather
than just being quiet and giving a rest - thereby nullifying any and
all desires one may have to engage in retribution. Well, not funny at
all...just par for the course for you.
Nope, I'm just telling you what happens, stoopid ***.

Now I hear your mommy calling. Better go see what she wants. I
suspect she needs to change your diapers, stoopid ***.i
Grow up, Jerry.
Sorry, Barry. You're acting like a spoiled little brat who has a
tantrum every time he doesn't get his way. YOU need to grow up!

Grow up, Jerry.

You're mommy's calling you, Barry. The spoiled little brat must have
soiled his diapers again.

Grow up, Jerry.
