Well obviously but I was talking in terms of an intranet environment, though I should have made that clear.

I don't understand in the networked age why you would want to put an extra burden on yourself.

While I agree with you , I suggest you go read the OP carefully . The post has two basic questions, GUI app development with php-gtk and Corporate use of it.

My response caterers to both .Php+ajax does not help making a download manager run on the client side.

Web-apps have their place , but do not expect them to make a replacement in client installable software .
