Just look at all the comments from other posters who are incredulous
at the fact that you and particularly JRough understand so little.
I hate the idea that either of you might actually produce something
(well actually all the people on this NG might manage to just about
make some of your cr*p just about workable), that ends up live and is
so full of holes that a paying client ends up losing their business.
I must say that he has dented my faith somewhat in what I haveSharing of expertise is one thing, but over 10 years both of you have,
regarded as one of the best aspects of the internet, the free sharing
of expertise. I do of course accept that sometimes I may have missed a
point and on these occasions it is fair for CP to remark on this!

As I mentioned the other day, to someone who had been rather abusive
to you, you are certainly miles better than JRough (but that isn't
really saying much), but after 10 years at this you have shown that
you still haven't really got a clue at what it is all about.
Take the recent posts over at c.d.m. Free sharing of expertise is one
thing, but you hadn't done any real design work on the database at
all. It was left to everyone else to do this piece of work from
scratch. I might have expected that sort of thin if it was within the
first year of posting, but to still be doing it after 10 years is just

Here we have the crux of the problem. It is not that the information
is not there, it is just that neither you nor JRough have the aptitude
to understand any of it.
Both of you are like the famous "cowboy builders" who give decent ones
a bad name.
I'm terribly sorry about this but I'm afraid it is blatantly true.
There is truth in some of what you say but just to clear up one point.
I never have been a full time programmer of any kind. I am 69 years
old with a career in education behind me. I am not and never have been
in a postion of power in any IT company!
With a friend we were the first people to demonstrate what became
Netscape at a big exhibition in London at what was the start of the
Internet for most people. Since that time I have had an interest in
the Internet and web design, using php and mysql at a very basic
level. Before this I was one of the first people in science education
to use Dialog. This being before the advent of mass access Internet.
Also an early user of A to D converters to attach scientifc equipment
to a PC, using the ZX81, Spectrum, BBC micro and the Research Machines
380/480Z. Just making the point that my IT interests go wider than php
It would no doubt be better if I spent more time studying php and
mysql but my hope has been that the occasional question might be
answered without too much effort being required by other people.
Other people are prepared to be helpful, you clearly have had enough!
