dynamic usage indicator like yahoo mail

I am trying to make a dynamic usage indicator like the one in yahoo
mail, ie, stretch an image at runtime in proportion to how much of the
mailbox total has been used. has anyone seen a script for this, or have
any suggestions on how to get started. Thanks in advance for any and
all ideas.
