PHP5 on OSX 10.2 (Jaguar)

When I checked the compatibility of PHP 5, I got the impression that it
could not be compiled for Jaguar. I didn't actually try to compile.

Is it true that PHP 5 can't be compiled to run on Jaguar? What is the
reason for the incompatibility? Are there versions of other OSs that
can run PHP4 but not PHP5?

I'll bet there are others who want to know,
