Edit existing Excel file using PHP

Hello,

I need to update particular cells and rows of the existing excel ***
containing Charts and Pivot report.
I am using the PHP under unix and MySQL So can't use the COM object of
PHP which works only under windows.
I tried few classes from phpclasses.org "Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer
(Creates an Excel *** from scratch) and few reader classes in PHP.

Can anybody guide me as how can I achieve the objective of editing the
existing Excel file using PHP
