What's wrong with this?

My mysql statement does not work. It gives me the following error:

user error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual
that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to
use near 'SELECT simpleNodeName.nid FROM simpleNodeName)' at line 1
query: SELECT * FROM node where node.nid IN (SELECT simpleNodeName.nid
FROM simpleNodeName) in
/home/blapper/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 66.

My mysql version is : 4.0.25-standard

The sql is

SELECT * FROM node where node.nid IN (SELECT simpleNodeName.nid FROM
simpleNodeName)

Could anyone help me fix this. I've read the mysql documentation but
it hasn't enlightenned me

.
