Just a tip:
A great way to disencourage potential users is:
- spam a ng with a great product
- demand that the user has to register (name and email) before proceeding.
I never give my (real) email to companies I don't know about.
Many don't.
So many cannot look at your backboneproduct.

Oh! I think you mean the Forum part of the site. Different animal...... No web-forum should allow un-registered users to post, so it is correct. Otherwise you would have all sorts of spammers/scammers abusing it.....
Open the pages for public, so people can judge if they are interested in the
first place.
If you want their email, ask it, not demand it.
