To eliminate any possible Windows issues I think I will move my testing
over to a Solaris server.
That is a very good idea. Clearly doing so will resolve this as
a Windows issue, or a code issue, making a presumption Solaris
is a "cooperative" system. Usually is, compared to Windows.
My XP Pro system is rather challenging. Microsoft incorporates
a lot of "hidden" security, hidden in a sense a user has much
difficulty finding and accessing those security features.
Understanding how those security devices operate, is even
more challenging.
XP Pro with service pack 2 is very secure, almost too much so.
This is understandable, though, with a vast majority of hacks
targetting Windows systems, as should be.
XP Home is equally daunting to learn and configure.
If you like technical books, "Windows XP Professional" by
Microsoft Press is an excellent one, albeit heavy reading.
Fairly cheap at Amazon or Ebay.
I am placing my bets on XP security tripping you up.
